Seahawks Drop Four-Set Battle to Washington College

St. Mary's City, Md. – September 25, 2025 – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's volleyball team (5-8) opened a four-set match strong but ultimately fell to visiting Washington College (10-4) on Thursday night inside the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena. The Shorewomen rallied after dropping the first set to secure the 3-1 victory (20-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-15).

The Seahawks came out sharp in the opening frame, hitting .238 as a team with 13 kills to take a 1-0 match lead. Washington College responded with a .313 hitting clip in the second set and never looked back, outpacing St. Mary's over the final three frames.

Erianna Mendieta paced the Seahawks with nine kills and 12 digs for 10 points, while Julia Bobrowski added six kills, three service aces, and 13 digs. Vlada Costenco chipped in four kills and two service aces, and Hope Parrish contributed four kills. At the net, Sanaa Porter registered three block assists and one solo block.

Setting duties were split between Lauren Panageotou (13 assists, 8 digs) and Arielle Lubeck (11 assists, 11 digs), with Elizabeth Childs anchoring the defense with 12 digs.

Washington College was led by Izzy Diehl with 15 kills on a .342 hitting percentage, while Giselle Kleinbussink tallied 13 kills and Allison McKechnie added 11 kills and 13 digs. Setter Alexis Stubbs dished out 26 assists to go along with 11 digs.

St. Mary's returns to action this Saturday, September 27 beginning conference play action with a match at Valley Forge at 1:00PM
