ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. — The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team continued its unbeaten run in United East play Saturday afternoon, defeating Penn State Abington, 98–44, in conference action.
The Seahawks (10-5, 4-0 United East) used balanced scoring and sustained defensive pressure to pull away early and cruise to their fourth straight conference victory.
Olivia Liszt led all scorers with a game-high 30 points, shooting 10-of-14 from the field and 6-of-9 from three-point range while adding four rebounds and three assists. Tramarie Mobray followed with 16 points, knocking down 7-of-10 shots and contributing four rebounds and five assists.
Rayna Miller chipped in nine points and six rebounds, while the Seahawks received contributions throughout the lineup as St. Mary's finished with 37 bench points.
St. Mary's set the tone early, building a first-quarter advantage and extending the lead to 52–14 at halftime behind efficient shooting and defensive pressure. The Seahawks shot 50.7 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from beyond the arc while holding the Lions to 28.6 percent shooting.
Defensively, St. Mary's forced 22 turnovers, converting them into 22 points, and dominated in transition with 24 fast-break points. The Seahawks also controlled the paint, outscoring Penn State Abington 34–16 inside.
Penn State Abington (9-6, 3-2 United East) was led by Naila Newman, who scored seven points, but the Lions were unable to keep pace with the Seahawks' depth and tempo.
St. Mary's will return to action on Tuesday, January 13th, when the Seahawks travel to Wilson for a 7:30PM tip-off.
