St. Mary’s College Men’s Basketball Take Down Wilson

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Four Seahawks score in double figures to lead the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team to victory Tuesday evening (Jan. 13). St. Mary's College (6-8, 2-2 UEC) picked up a 70-60 United East Conference road win over Wilson College as the Seahawks never trailed in the game.
 
How It Happened
  • SMCM came out firing, jumping out to a 12-0 lead within the first six minutes. St. Mary's College never looked back in growing to its biggest lead of the game, 20-5, at 9:40.
  • Wilson trimmed the deficit to five twice in the first half, including 23-18 at 3:34 on a layup by Armani Jones, before heading into halftime down 31-24.
  • Thanks to consecutive buckets from Sophomore James Crimaudo (Riva, Md./South River) and junior guard Ben Kobil (Washington, D.C./Jackson-Reed), the Seahawks rebuilt a double-digit margin less than three minutes into the second half.
  • The Phoenix kept hanging around, pulling within three twice over the next 12 minutes but never overcoming the visitors' 15-point advantage.
  • With Jalen Bowie's triple closing the gap to 56-53 at 5:34, SMCM doubled up on Wilson and closed out the game with a 14-7 push.

  • First-year forward Evan Quintero (Fallston, Md./Gilman) chipped in 10 points and five rebounds.
  • Senior captain JD Salo (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) grabbed 10 boards and added five points and a career-best four blocks.

  • Bowie recorded a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds as the Phoenix had their two-game win streak snapped.
