Box Score ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. — The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team prevailed in a hard-fought overtime battle Monday evening, defeating Salisbury University, 83–78, at the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena.
The Seahawks (13-5) used a strong overtime period to secure the victory, outscoring the Sea Gulls 14–9 in the extra frame after the teams were tied 69–69 at the end of regulation.
Keira Mason led St. Mary's with a team-high 18 points, shooting 8-of-17 from the field while adding nine rebounds and five assists. Tramarie Mobray followed with 16 points, connecting on 6-of-8 shots, including 2-of-3 from three-point range, while pulling down four rebounds and dishing out six assists.
Olivia Liszt added 12 points and seven rebounds, while Marley Saunders chipped in 10 points, knocking down three three-pointers off the bench. Halimah Hajhassan provided a spark with five points in limited minutes.
St. Mary's held a 23–19 advantage after the first quarter and led 34–31 at halftime. Salisbury rallied in the second half to take a multi-possesion lead, but the Seahawks answered with timely baskets and defensive stops to go back on top late in regulation. The Seagulls, trailing by two, were able to find the equalizer with seconds left to force overtime. The Seahawks were able to seize momentum early in the extra period on their way to pulling out the win.
The Seahawks finished the game shooting 47.8 percent from the field and totaled 42 points in the paint, 15 fast-break points, and 23 points off turnovers. St. Mary's also recorded 20 assists on 32 made field goals.
Salisbury (11-7) was led by Nicole Miller, who scored 26 points, and Abby Plaugher, who added 23 points, but the Sea Gulls were held to just nine points in overtime.
St. Mary's will return to action on Saturday January 24th when the Seahawks travel to Penn College to resume conference play.
