Williamsport, Pa. — The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team used a strong first half and balanced scoring effort to secure a 66–49 United East victory over Penn College on Thursday evening at Bardo Gym.
St. Mary's (14-5, 7-0 UE) jumped out early, holding Penn College to just six points in the opening quarter before extending the advantage to 37–23 at the break. The Seahawks maintained control throughout the second half, never allowing the Wildcats to cut the deficit below double digits.
Three Seahawks finished with 15 points apiece to pace the offense. Tramarie Mobray went 7-of-12 from the field, adding six rebounds, two steals, and three assists. Olivia Liszt was highly efficient, shooting 5-of-6 from the floor and a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc, while also contributing three rebounds and two steals. Keira Mason added a strong all-around performance with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals off the bench.
Rayna Miller recorded a double-double on the glass, pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with six points, two assists, and a block. Sam Blaylock chipped in eight points on 3-of-6 shooting, including a pair of three-pointers, while Skylar Woodyard added six points, four rebounds, and three steals.
St. Mary's shot 41.3 percent from the field (26-of-63) and won the rebounding battle 41–31. The Seahawks also forced 17 turnovers and converted those into 14 steals on the defensive end.
Penn College (14-6, 6-2 UE) was led by Raeanna Andreas with seven points, while Mia Patterson and Gigi Parlante combined for eight rebounds, but the Wildcats shot just 33.9 percent overall and were limited to four made three-pointers.
The Seahawks return to action on Tuesday January 27th when they host Penn State Harrisburg.
