ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Three Seahawks scored in double digits as the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team rebounded with a United East Conference win Wednesday night (Jan. 21). St. Mary's College (7-9, 3-3 UEC) picked up a 59-42 victory over Rosemont College (2-13, 1-6 UEC).
How It Happened
- Following an early 2-0 lead by Rosemont, the Seahawks turned it around with a 22-10 run over the next 12 minutes to boast a 10-point margin with 4:38 left in the first half.
- SMCM held off the Ravens for a 22-17 lead at halftime as back-to-back buckets by Brandon Moore fueled a 5-0 push by the visitors.
- St. Mary's College put up its best second-half shooting of the season as the Seahawks knocked down 63.6-percent of their shots over the final 20 minutes.
- Rosemont stuck around through the first 10 minutes of the second half, trimming a 12-point deficit down to 33-30 with 12:46 to go as Moore tallied nine points in his team's rally.
- Five straight points by first-year forward Tristan Thompson (Urbana, Md./Urbana) sparked a 9-2 Seahawk spurt that gave the home team a double-digit lead for the final 6:53 of the game.
- A three-point shot by first-year guard Korey Blair (Baltimore, Md./Overlea) at 3:30 handed SMCM its biggest lead of the game, 56-34.
