ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. — The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team continued its dominant run through United East Conference play Tuesday night, rolling to a 93-46 victory over Penn State Berks at the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena.
With the win, the Seahawks improve to 19-5 overall and 12-0 in conference play, while Penn State Berks drops to 3-21 overall and 2-10 in the league.
St. Mary's seized control early, erupting for 37 first-quarter points while holding the Lions to just nine. The Seahawks extended the advantage to 51-15 at halftime and never looked back, using a 30-point third quarter to push the lead past 50 before closing out the convincing home victory.
Olivia Liszt led St. Mary's with 20 points, knocking down four three-pointers while adding three assists and two steals in just 20 minutes of action. Saffiyah Gibson provided a strong spark off the bench with 13 points, while Rayna Miller added 12 points and six steals.
Samantha Blaylock also reached double figures with 12 points on four three-pointers, and Marley Saunders contributed 10 points, three assists, and five steals. Keira Mason chipped in 10 points, five rebounds, and two blocks to round out the balanced effort.
The Seahawks showcased depth throughout the contest, receiving 45 bench points and forcing turnovers that led to 44 points off miscues. St. Mary's also pushed the tempo effectively, finishing with 36 fast-break points.
Penn State Berks was led by Hailey Miller's 16 points, while Gabrielle Merritt added 12 and Jalyn Hann posted 11 points and 10 rebounds.
St. Mary's returns to action later this week as they travel to Penn State Brandywine this Saturday, February 14th.
