NEW YORK, N.Y. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's indoor track & field team posted a pair of program records Friday (Feb. 6) at the Scarlet Knights Open hosted by Rutgers University at The Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory.
For the fourth time this season and the second weekend in a row, senior
Savannah Owens (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) broke the 400m dash record. This time, Owens clocked a personal record 59.59 on the banked track for 10th place, clipping her previous mark of 1:01.46 from the Patriot Games on Jan. 31. Overall, the 400m dash record has been broken five times this season.
Junior
Jillian Zukley (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) broke the weight throw record for the second time this season as Zukley threw a personal record 15.31m for second place, adding 0.20m to her previous school record of 15.11m set at the Christopher Newport University Holiday Open on Dec. 6, 2025.
How It Happened
- Zukley finished seventh in the shot put with 11.04m.
- Owens, junior Avery Arizzi (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck), sophomore Rocksann Smith (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College), and first-year Lacey Schleig (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) ran a 4:21.59 to place seventh in the 4x400m relay.
- Schleig notched a 14th-place finish in the triple jump with 10.18m while going 20th in the 60m hurdles in 9.91.
- Arizzi added a 22nd-place finish in the 800m run in 2:32.33 as well as a 24th-place finish in the 400m dash in 1:02.33.
- Owens went 29th in the 60m dash with a personal record of 8.18.
- Smith tallied a 28.29 in the 200m dash for 59th place while taking 22nd in the 60m hurdles in 9.96.
