ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team continued with United East Conference action Wednesday afternoon (Mar. 25). St. Mary's College (5-4, 2-0 UEC) dropped only one game the entire match in posting a 7-0 win over Notre Dame of Maryland University (0-2, 0-2 UEC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
- First-years Lily Ganjbaksh (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) and Addyson Harden (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) grabbed a 6-0 win over Tiffany Mercado and Tolulope Olowookorun at No. 1 doubles.
- Junior captain Lauren Lovejoy (Newburg, Md./La Plata) and sophomore Lily Spedden (Cambridge, Md./Cambridge South Dorchester) picked up a 6-1 victory over Karen Domingues and Karen Morales at No. 2 doubles.
- Sophomore captain Stella Manns (White Hall, Md./North Harford) and first-year Jenna Roh (Abingdon, Md./North Harford) notched a 6-0 triumph over Meera Belcher and Mia Wills at third doubles.
SINGLES
- Ganjbaksh earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Olowookorun at No. 1 singles to improve to 9-2 on the season.
- Spedden moved 3-4 overall with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Belcher at No. 2 singles.
- Lovejoy tallied a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Mercado at No. 3 singles and now stands at 2-6 overall.
- Sophomore Zoe Wilson (Clarksburg, Md./Holy Cross) garnered a 6-0, 6-0 win over Domingues at No. 4 singles for a 5-4 overall record.
- Manns came up with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Morales at No. 5 singles for her second career singles win.
- In the sixth flight, Harden registered a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Wills to move to 3-1 on the season.
