ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's outdoor track & field team hosted the 5th Annual Seahawk Invitational Saturday (March 28), notching six personal-best marks, three school records, and two season-best marks.
Senior
Savannah Owens (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) picked up the school record in the 400m dash, winning the event in 59.34. Owens knocked off the previous record of 1:00.85 set by
Avery Arizzi '26 on May 4, 2025.
Sophomore
Ella Mitchell (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr) earned the school record in the 5000m run, capturing the event in 18:46.41. Mitchell surpassed the previous record of 19:17.04 set by
Lindsey Stevenson '21 on April 10, 2021.
Sophomore
Rocksann Smith (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) won the javelin throw with a school record and personal-best distance of 41.11m. Smith beat her own record of 35.98m set on March 22, 2025.
How It Happened
- Senior Avery Arizzi (Arnold, Md./Broadneck), Best, sophomore Gracie Tourangeau (Sykesville, Md./Century), and Owens came together to win the 4x400m relay in 4:14.45.
- Tourangeau captured the 800m run with a season-best 2:30.30 while Arizzi took third with a season-best 237.62.
- Arizzi then claimed top honors in the 1500m in 5:28.88 followed by first-year Charlotte Crabtree (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) in fifth in 5:56.97. Junior Weiya Carter (Havre de Grace, Md./Towson) placed sixth in 5:58.16 while junior Alexis Hodges (Sugarland, Texas/Chopticon [Md.]) finished eighth in 6:39.93.
- Junior Ellie Geiger (California, Md./Leonardtown) crossed the finish line first in the 3000m steeplechase in 15:10.16.
- St. Mary's College took the top two spots in the discus throw as first-year Breanna Brown (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) won the event with a personal-best throw of 29.73m while junior Jillian Zukley (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) came in second with 28.04m. Sophomore Jessica Satz (Silver Spring, Md./JFK) threw a personal-best 25.23m for seventh while senior Fladaina Bruno (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) posted a season-best 23.64m for eighth.
- Zukley took the top spot in the shot put with 10.92m while first-year Emma Fonke (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) placed third with 10.45m. Brown registered a fifth-place finish with 9.14m while Bruno came in eighth with 8.74m.
- Zukley also tallied a second-place finish in the hammer throw with 39.31m while Bruno placed fourth with 32.39m. Brown added a sixth-place finish with 29.10m while Satz finished eighth with 24.48m.
- First-year Lacey Schleig (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) notched a second-place finish in the high jump with 1.35m while going third in the 100m hurdles in 16.90.
- The foursome of Owens, first-years London Best (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) and Oliviah Walton (Bowie, Md./Pallotti), and Smith garnered a third-place finish in the 4x100m relay with a season-best 51.22.
- Best picked up a sixth-place finish in the 200m dash in 27.72 while Schleigh clocked a personal-best 28.36 for 10th and sophomore Ji-Young Hartman (Vienna, Va./Trinity School) ran a personal-best 30.81 for 19th.
- Senior Kate Wachter (Takoma Park, Md./Montgomery Blair) came in sixth in the 5000m after Mitchell with a personal-best 21:21.58 while junior Madison Kingsley (White Hall, Md./North Harford) took seventh in 22:45.63.
- Schleig earned a sixth-place finish in the javelin throw with 17.62m while Satz came in eighth with 14.76m.
- Best added an eighth-place finish in the 400m dash in 1:03.41 while sophomore Sujin Galstad finished ninth in the 100m dash preliminaries in 16.41.
