SMCM Women’s Tennis Drops Penn State Berks

READING, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team continued to roll through the United East Conference, picking up their seventh consecutive victory Saturday afternoon (April 11). St. Mary's College blanked Penn State Berks (2-9, 2-5 UEC) for its fifth 7-0 victory of the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
  • Sophomore captain Stella Manns (White Hall, Md./North Harford) and first-year Jenna Roh (Abingdon, Md./North Harford) earned a forfeit win at No. 3 as Berks only had five players.
  • Junior captain Lauren Lovejoy (Newburg, Md./La Plata) and Lily Spedden (Cambridge, Md./Cambridge South Dorchester) clinched the doubles point with their 6-0 victory over Devon Deery and Zoey Macknicki at No. 2.
  • First-years Lily Ganjbaksh (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) and Addyson Harden (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) wrapped up doubles action with a 6-2 triumph over Mia Aharonoff and Lannie Beck at No. 1.
 
SINGLES
  • Harden earned a forfeit win at No. 6 before straight set wins by Ganjbaksh (No. 1), Lovejoy (No. 3), and Spedden (No. 2) clinched the match at 4-0.
  • Manns blanked Marissa Bailey at No. 5 and sophomore Zoe Wilson (Clarksburg, Md./Holy Cross) dropped only one game at No. 4 to close out the match.
