St. Mary’s College Women’s Tennis Continues Winning Ways

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team earned their sixth shutout of the season Tuesday afternoon (April 14). St. Mary's College (11-4, 8-0 UEC) blanked United East Conference rival, Penn State Harrisburg (8-6, 6-2 UEC), for its eighth consecutive win.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
  • First-years Lily Ganjbaksh (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) and Addyson Harden (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) opened action with a 6-0 win over Karly Anderson and Megan Strohecker at the No. 1 pairing.
  • Team captains Lauren Lovejoy (Newburg, Md./La Plata) and Stella Manns (White Hall, Md./North Harford) locked up the doubles point with a 6-2 victory over Aubrey Gard and Rosalia Mannino at the No. 2 spot.
  • Sophomores Sarah Levit (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) and Lily Spedden (Cambridge, Md./Cambridge South Dorchester) closed doubles action with a 7-5 triumph over Karina Ko and Kiersten Strohecker.
 
SINGLES
  • Ganjbaksh and Levit made it a 3-0 lead for the Seahawks with their straight victories at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
  • Sophomore Zoe Wilson (Clarksburg, Md./Holy Cross) clinched the match with her 6-2, 6-1 victory over Mannino at No. 4 singles.
  • Spedden, Lovejoy, and Manns all claimed straight-set victories in their matches, dropping a combined total of four games over their three matches.
