GROVE CITY, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team rallied from a six-goal deficit to force overtime Saturday afternoon (April 18) but came up short in non-conference action. St. Mary's College (8-7) wrapped up its six-game road trip with a 14-13 overtime loss to Grove City College (8-7).
How It Happened
- Grove City's Ethan Binns netted the game-winning goal 49 seconds into overtime off an assist from Stewart McClain.
- The Wolverines jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first 15 minutes of play.
- Sophomore midfielder Gavin Phipps (Mayo, Md./South River) put the Seahawks on the scoreboard 37 seconds into the second quarter. After Binns returned a six-goal cushion to GCC, first-year attackman Brady Manankil (Hereford, Md./Hereford) scored twice in a 3-0 run to pull SMCM within 7-4 with 8:54 remaining in the first half. Grove City headed into halftime with an 8-4 lead following an unassisted goal by Davis Schneider.
- St. Mary's College began the third period with three straight, including a pair from sophomore attackman Owen Wynot (Kent Island, Md./Kent Island), to come within one. The Wolverines closed out the third on a 3-1 run to go into the fourth frame with an 11-8 advantage.
- The Seahawks opened the final quarter of regulation with three unanswered goals to knot the game at 11-all with 8:41 left in the game. The two sides traded the next four goals, including Wynot's game-tying goal with 16 ticks on the clock to force OT.

- Junior defenseman Bret Hussey (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) paced the defense with a career-best two caused turnovers while chipping in two ground balls.

- Schneider finished with five points on two goals and three assists while Colton Lehberg won 12 face-offs and picked up 10 ground balls.
