Seahawks Explode for 15 Runs as Stratchko Earns 100th Career Win

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Behind an explosive offensive performance and a dominant outing on the mound, the St. Mary's College of Maryland baseball team rolled to a 15-2 victory over Wilson on Tuesday afternoon, giving head coach Bernie Stratchko his 100th career win.

The Seahawks (9-17) wasted little time seizing control, erupting for four runs in the second inning. Aaron Wathen jumpstarted the scoring with a two-run home run before Kyle Catanzaro followed with a solo shot later in the frame. St. Mary's added another run on an RBI groundout by Eli Shafer to take a 4-0 lead.

St. Mary's continued to pour it on in the third, plating four more runs to extend the advantage to 8-0. Wathen delivered again with an RBI double, while Will Wilson added a two-run single. Layne Lesko capped the inning with a sacrifice fly.

After Wilson (5-24-1) got on the board in the third, the Seahawks answered right back in the fourth with three more runs. Catanzaro drove in a run with a single and Corey Brown added a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 11-1.

The Seahawks put the game out of reach in the fifth inning as Rhett Fletcher launched a two-run home run and Brown followed with a two-run single, stretching the margin to 15-1.

On the mound, Colin Bashor (1-1) was outstanding, tossing 6.2 innings while allowing just one hit and two runs (one earned). He struck out 11 and worked around seven walks to earn the win. Brady Hopkins recorded the final out to close things out.

Offensively, Wathen led the way with a 3-for-4 performance, scoring four times and driving in three runs. Catanzaro added three hits and two RBI, while Fletcher chipped in two hits and a pair of RBI. Brown also drove in three runs as part of a balanced 14-hit attack.

The victory marks a milestone moment for Stratchko, who reaches 100 career wins at the helm of the Seahawks program.
