SALISBURY, Md. — St. Mary's College of Maryland dropped a non-conference contest on the road Wednesday afternoon, falling to No. 12 Salisbury, 28-0, at Williams Stadium.
The Seahawks (9-18) collected six hits on the day but were unable to break through against a deep Salisbury pitching staff that combined for a shutout. Eli Shafer, Corey Brown, Will Wilson, DJ Sifford, Brady Campbell, and Layne Lesko each recorded a hit for St. Mary's.
Salisbury (25-9) struck early and never looked back, plating four runs in the opening inning before erupting for 11 runs in the third to take full control. The Sea Gulls added multiple runs in each of the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to extend the lead.
Aaron Wathen and Shafer paced the Seahawks defensively, while the St. Mary's pitching staff worked through a challenging outing against a potent Salisbury lineup that tallied 19 hits.
St. Mary's will look to regroup as the Seahawks return to conference play in their next outing on Friday, April 24th with a home doubleheader with Penn State Abington.
