ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a commanding United East Conference win Saturday (April 25) on Senior Day. St. Mary's College (10-7, 2-0 UEC) locked up the No. 1 seed in the upcoming United East Men's Lacrosse Tournament Championship with a 27-1 rout of University of Pittsburgh-Bradford (11-5, 1-2 UEC).
Prior to the start of the game, the Seahawks honored their 10 seniors –

Garrett Brodfuehrer (Lexington Park, Md./St. Mary's Ryken),
Matteo Ciccarello (Crofton, Md./Arundel),
Cooper Dunwoody (Sandy Spring, Md./Sherwood),
Nick Machiran (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron),
Joshua Martel (Linthicum, Md./North County),
Adam Martin (Kent Island, Md./Kent Island),
Liam McNulty (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park),
Ryan Roth (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest), and
Joe Szymanski (Easton, Md./Easton) – for their dedication and leadership to the program.
SMCM will host No. 4 seed Cairn University (2-8) on Wednesday, April 29, at the Jamie L. Roberts Stadium in the semifinals of the United East Tournament. Game time to be determined.
Ciccarello recorded his 500th career ground ball with his seventh of the game, finishing the game with 15, while Martel scored his 150th career goal with his fourth of the game. Martel ended the game with season-bests of seven points, five goals, and two assists.
How It Happened
- St. Mary's College rushed out to a 16-0 halftime advantage with eight goals in each of the first two quarters.
- Evan Hawley put the Panthers on the scoreboard with the first goal of the third period.
- After that, it was all Seahawks as they closed out the game on an 11-0 run.

- SMCM posted an 87-17 shot advantage while winning 22-of-32 faceoffs behind a 20-for-26 effort by Ciccarello.
- St. Mary's College registered a +21-turnover margin with the Seahawk defense causing 14 of Pitt-Bradford's 32 turnovers.
- The Seahawks dominated the ground balls with a 57-20 advantage as Ciccarello led the way with 15 and Szymanski picked up seven.

- First-year attackman Jack Reiter (Damascus, Md./Damascus) had himself a day with career-bests of five points, three assists and two goals.
- Sophomore defensive midfielder Jake Polucha (Odenton, Md./Arundel) and first-year midfielders RJ Cusson (Towson, Md./Loyola Blakefield) and Matthew Martel (Linthicum, Md./North County) all scored their first career goals as Seahawks.
- Sophomore long-stick midfielder Carter Baynes (Parkville, Md./Curley) paced the defense with career-bests of three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
- First-year goalie Conner Campbell (Mayo, Md./South River) made six saves over the final 30 minutes of the game in relief of sophomore starter Ty Spencer (Hanover, Md./Indian Creek), who had one stop in the first 30 minutes.
Pitt-Bradford Game Notes
- Austyn Stack scooped up seven ground balls while Hunter Shank turned away 15 Seahawk shots in 45 minutes of action. Evan Stack notched six saves in the fourth quarter.
