LATHAM, N.Y. – Collin Fitzgerald (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) and Zack Kralec (Monkton, Md./Hereford) of the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's outdoor track & field team were selected as the United East Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office Tuesday morning (April 28).
 
This is Fitzgerald's fourth career outdoor track athlete of the week honor while Kralec is picking up his second field athlete of the week award of the season.
 
Fitzgerald clocked a 47.22 split as the second leg of the record-setting 4x400m relay at the Penn Relays (April 24) hosted by the University of Pennsylvania at Franklin Field. St. Mary's College posted a 3:22.15 to finish 12th out of 18 teams, surpassing the previous record of 3:29.01 set four years ago on May 7, 2022 at the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Championships.
 
The Seahawks now hold the fastest 4x400m relay time in the United East and rank ninth in the Division III Mid-Atlantic Region. SMCM also qualified for the 2026 All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Outdoor Championships on May 13-14.
 
Kralec tied for seventh in the pole vault at Penn Relays with 4.72m. As the only Division III athlete to finish in the Top 10, he tied with athletes from Bucknell University, Army, and Binghamton University.
 
St. Mary's College will be back in action this weekend, May 2-3, at the 2026 United East Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Keystone College in La Plume, Pa.
