LANDISVILLE, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team captured their third United East Conference Tournament championship title Sunday afternoon (May 3) at the Hempfield recCenter. No. 1 seed St. Mary's College (14-4) posted a 4-0 victory over No. 3 seed Penn College (9-11) for its 11th consecutive victory.

Lily Ganjbaksh (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) was named the Tournament MVP after not dropping a single game in all three of her completed matches throughout the playoffs.

The Seahawks previously won the United East championship trophy in 2022 and 2023. SMCM claimed the conference's automatic qualifying berth in the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship Tournament with today's victory. HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
- Sophomores Sarah Levit (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) and Lily Spedden (Cambridge, Md./Cambridge South Dorchester) got it started for the Seahawks with a 6-0 win over Leah Vest and Kiera Wene at the No. 2 pairing.
- Team captains Lauren Lovejoy (Newburg, Md./La Plata) and Stella Manns (White Hall, Md./North Harford) notched a 6-1 victory over Cierra Miller and Eliza Welshans at the No. 3 spot to clinch the doubles point for SMCM.
SINGLES
- First-year Lily Ganjbaksh (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) blanked Ellen Buckley at the No. 1 spot to give St. Mary's College a 2-0 lead.
- Manns made it 3-0 with a 6-6-2, 6-1 triumph over Miller at the No. 6 position.
- Levit locked up the program's third United East crown with a 6-1, 6-2 decision over Lauren Peck at No. 2 singles.
