GLASSBORO, N.J. — The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team fell to Rowan University, 2-0, Saturday evening at the Rowan Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.
The Seahawks (1-4-3) battled Rowan through a scoreless opening 13 minutes before the Profs broke through in the 14th minute. Sara Wiedeman scored at 13:11 to give Rowan a 1-0 lead.
St. Mary's goalkeeper Breanna Brown kept the Seahawks within one heading into halftime, making four saves in the opening 45 minutes. The Seahawks recorded one shot in the first half, while Rowan put 10 shots toward goal.
Rowan added to its advantage in the 73rd minute when Bella Moore scored at 72:44 off an assist from Wiedeman.
Brown finished the night with seven saves, including three in the second half. The Profs finished with a 25-2 advantage in shots and an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.
St. Mary's recorded two shots on the night, both coming from Keira O'Neail and Gracie Tourangeau. Rowan goalkeeper Enya Carthy did not need to make a save to record the shutout.
The Seahawks are back on the road Wednesday, Sept. 23, to face Catholic University at 7 p.m.
