Seahawks Men’s Soccer Rebounds with First Win of 2026

SALISBURY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team earned their first win of the 2026 campaign Friday evening (Sept. 4) at the Elmer Lord Tournament hosted by Salisbury University. St. Mary's College (1-1) handed Albertus Magnus College (1-1) its first loss of the season – a 5-3 decision in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
 
How It Happened
  • The Seahawks and Albertus Magnus alternated the first four goals of the game. Senior midfielder Tyler Foti (Annandale, Va./Annandale) put SMCM on the board first in the third minute off an assist by junior forward Nick Haney (Chesapeake Beach, Md./Northern).
  • The Falcons responded five minutes later with a Lorenzo Lauria tally before senior forward Lucas Evans (Greenbelt, Md./South River) netted his first of the season in the 12th minute off an assist by senior captain Braden Kindred (Olney, Md./Sherwood).
  • AMC knotted the game for a second time in the 23rd minute when Colby Nardelli found the back of the net. St. Mary's College would head into halftime with a 3-2 lead following junior forward Tanner Bruce's (Owings, Md./Northern) first career collegiate goal.
  • The Seahawks upped the ante in the second half with two goals in 11 minutes to stake a 5-2 advantage at 65:24 behind goals from senior defender Ethan Wright (Columbia, Md./Bethesda Chevy Chase) and first-year Caleb Phillips (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown).
  • Jared Relazye rounded out the scoring for Albertus Magnus with an unassisted goal in the 78th minute.

  • SMCM dominated offensively with a 26-6 shot advantage, including a 13-4 shots on target margin.
  • St. Mary's College also edged the Falcons, 4-3, in corner kicks.

  • Sophomore forward Matthew Kuwik (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) paced SMCM with four shots (two on target).
