St. Mary's City, Md. - Senior midfielder Lauren Carrier (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) matched her season-high with six goals as the 19th-ranked St. Mary's College of Maryland women's lacrosse team finished the Capital Athletic Conference regular-season with a 16-9 victory over Stevenson University on a wet Saturday afternoon.

Fellow senior midfielder Allie Zerhusen (Cockeysville, Md./Park) also had a strong performance for St. Mary's (11-4, 6-1 CAC) as Zerhusen tallied four goals and five points, while senior attacker Emily Norris (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) added two goals and a helper.

Carrier broke open a 3-3 draw with three consecutive goals in the final 4:33 of the first half, while Zerhusen scored her second of the game with six seconds before halftime to give the Seahawks a 7-3 lead at intermission.

Carrier's NCAA Division III record for consecutive games with at least one goal now stands at 57 straight contests.  She started the streak as a freshman on April 15, 2006 in a loss to Mary Washington.

St. Mary's commenced the second stanza with a 6-1 run to claim a 13-4 advantage with 7:16 remaining in the game.  Back-to-back goals by Stevenson's sophomore attacker Lisa Baker (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and junior midfielder Lauren Zegowitz (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) in 52 seconds closed the gap to 13-6 with 4:00 remaining.  However, three goals in the row by the Seahawks in a one-minute span sealed the 16-9 victory.

Baker finished as the Mustangs' (7-6, 3-3 CAC) scoring leader with two goals and an assist, while Zegowitz and junior midfielder Brittany Connelly (Catonsville, MD./Catonsville) each contributed two goals.

The Seahawks took 31 shots to Stevenson's 25, while the Mustangs edged St. Mary's 17-14 in ground balls.  The home team dominated draw controls with a 19-8 advantage as Zerhusen grabbed a season- and game-high six.

Sophomore Colleen Simpson (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) tallied nine saves in the victory, while freshman Jenny Schroeder (Severna Park, Md./Seton Keough) and sophomore Devan Malone (Highland, Md./River Hill) combined for nine stops for the Mustangs.

St. Mary's will wrap up its three-game homestand with Senior Day on Wednesday, April 15 as the Seahawks welcome Christopher Newport University to Seahawk Stadium at 4:00.
