Game Program

St. Mary's City, Md. - With her five-goal, one-assist performance Wednesday afternoon, senior midfielder Lauren Carrier (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) became the school's all-time leader in both goals and points as Carrier led the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's lacrosse team to a 14-9 non-conference victory over Christopher Newport University on Senior Day.

For her career, Carrier now has 242 goals and 303 points, surpassing the old records of 241 goals and 298 points set by Suzanne DeHaan '95.

The Seahawks' other two seniors also shined as midfielder Allie Zerhusen (Cockeysville, Md./Park) and attacker Emily Norris (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) both contributed two goals and an assist.

St. Mary's returns to action April 21 as the No. 2 seed in the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament.  The Seahawks (12-4) finished second in the league standings with a 6-1 record and were rewarded with a first-round bye as the CAC Tournament kicks off this Saturday with quarterfinal action.  On Tuesday, St. Mary's will host the winner of Saturday's match-up between No. 3 seed University of Mary Washington and No. 6 seed York (Pa.) College.  Tuesday's game time will be announced later.

St. Mary's stormed out of the gates with six unanswered goals, including both of Norris' tallies, before sophomore midfielder Mea Arnold (Manassas, Va./Forest Park) finally put the Captains (9-5) on the board at 16:48 with an unassisted goal.  The Seahawks outscored CNU, 5-4, in the final 13 minutes of the first half to boast an 11-5 halftime advantage.

Carrier's NCAA Division III record for consecutive games with at least one goal has now reached 58 straight contests.  She started the streak as a freshman on April 15, 2006 in a loss to Mary Washington.

The Seahawks scored the first three goals of the second stanza before CNU netted the game's final four goals, including a pair from sophomore attacker Meghan Harkey (Purcellville, Va./Loudoun Valley).

In her first career start as a Seahawk, sophomore attacker Maggie Macleay (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) tallied two goals, while junior attacker Kelsey Branch (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford) dished out a season-high four assists.

St. Mary's outshot the Captains, 32-21, while dominating the draw controls, 18-7.  The Seahawks edged the visitors, 25-23, in ground balls as sophomore defender Elisa Bateman (Sparks, Md./Hereford) scooped up a game- and career-high five loose balls.

CNU's leading scorer, Harkey led the Captains with two goals and a helper, while freshman midfielder Liz Klemens (Round Hills, Va./Loudoun Valley) added two goals and senior midfielder Katie Doherty (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI) dished out three assists.

Freshman Colleen Simpson (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) needed just five saves to pick up her 12th victory between the pipes.  Junior Gayle Robinson (Reston, Va./South Lakes) made 10 stops in the loss.
