Stevenson, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team improved to 2-1 in Capital Athletic Conference action with a 6-3 win over Stevenson University Saturday afternoon.

The Seahawks (10-5, 2-1 CAC) entered singles action with a 2-1 advantage as St. Mary's claimed victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.

Stevenson (2-7, 0-3 CAC) staked a 3-2 lead with wins at the No. 1 and No. 5 singles flights before the Seahawks captured the next four singles for the 6-3 victory.

Senior Drew Barnes (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) picked up his third straight singles win for an 8-3 overall singles record as Barnes handed sophomore Shawn Hellman (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) a 6-4, 6-4 setback at No. 6 singles.

St. Mary's will continue conference play with a match against Hood College at the Somerset Tennis Complex on Wednesday, April 7 at 3:00 pm.  The Seahawks' four seniors will be recognized prior to the start of the match.
