Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team opened 2026-27 dual match action Saturday (Sept. 19) at The Catholic University of America. St. Mary's College dropped a 7-0 non-conference decision at Catholic (2-1).
 
The Cardinals claimed the doubles point outright as CUA began the match with 6-1 and 6-2 victories at No. 3 and No. 2 doubles, respectively. Juniors Alex Lyman (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) and Jacob Nelson (Olney, Md./Sherwood) earned a dominant 6-1 triumph at No. 1 doubles to avoid the doubles sweep.
 
Catholic continued to roll in singles action, notching straight-set wins in all six matches. Lyman, Oliver Emard, and sophomore Nate Willoughby (Edgewater, Md./South River) won six or more games in their matches. Lyman (No. 3 singles) and Emard (No. 5 singles) both posted hard-fought 3-6, 3-6 losses while Willoughby battled at No. 6 singles, falling 3-6, 6-7 (4).
