Carlisle, Pa. – Behind a career-high 17 saves by junior Colleen Simpson (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) and junior midfielder Cailey Aburn's (Jarrettsville, Md./John Carroll) game-winning goal, the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's lacrosse team (7-2) handed host Dickinson College (3-5) its second straight loss – a 13-12 decision in overtime Wednesday afternoon.

Aburn scored the eventual game-winner off an assist from sophomore midfielder Lauriann Parker (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) just 46 seconds into the first six-minute overtime period.  Aburn's goal gave St. Mary's a 13-11 advantage with 5:14 left to play.

Following the goal by Aburn, Dickinson fired off two shots that were both denied by Simpson and failed to convert on a free-position attempt as the Red Devils turned the ball over.  St. Mary's cleared the ball but then turned it over with 24 seconds left, allowing Dickinson's senior midfielder Lucy West (Bethesda, Md.) to pull her squad within one as West tallied an unassisted goal with one second remaining in OT following a good clear attempt by her defense.

Sophomore midfielder Erin Shackelford (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) paced the Seahawk offense with four goals while Parker finished with two goals and three assists.  Senior midfielder Aubrey Mirkin (Ashton, Md./Sherwood) added her third hat trick of the season while Aburn contributed a pair of scores.

Dickinson claimed a 1-0 lead at 26:44 before Shackelford tied the game up with a free-position goal at 24:03.  The Red Devils scored two straight but the two-goal lead was short-lived as Mirkin and Parker both found the back of the net to keep the game knotted at 3-3.  The two teams each scored one to maintain the deadlock before DC's junior Kaity Moore (Chestertown, Md.) notched an unassisted goal with eight seconds left in the first half to give her team a 5-4 edge at halftime.

The Red Devils scored the first goal of the second half for a two-goal lead but Shackelford tallied the next two goals for a 6-6 draw with 24:02 left.  After Dickinson reclaimed the lead on a Clare Manoli (Hudson, Ohio) goal, St. Mary's reeled off five straight to stake an 11-7 lead with 10:49 left in the game.  Junior midfielder Taryn Abbassian (Vernon Hills, Ill.) went on to score three of DC's next four goals, including the game-tying goal at 00:17, to force overtime.

Abbassian finished with four goals to lead the Red Devils while senior midfielder Sunnie Ko (Springfield, Va.) scored three times.

St. Mary's had its best performance of the season in free-position shots as the Seahawks went 6-for-7 with Shackelford and Parker each going 2-for-2.

St. Mary's will enjoy the last days of Spring Break before returning to action on Wednesday, March 23, traveling to Towson to face Goucher College in non-conference action at 4:00 pm.
