Middletown, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team picked up their second straight Capital Athletic Conference match Sunday afternoon as the Seahawks (3-5, 1-2 CAC) faced Penn State Harrisburg (3-3, 1-1 CAC). The Lions came out on top by a 6-3 margin.
Junior Nick Ersoy (Prince Frederick, Md./Huntingtown) and first-year Kyle Van Winter (Scaggsville, Md./Good Counsel) posted an 8-4 win over first-year Mahesh Subramanian (Dayton, N.J./South Brunswick) at No. 3 doubles to even up the score at 1-1. Penn State Harrisburg then picked up an 8-6 trumph at No. 1 doubles to head into singles action up 2-1.
The Lions then claimed a 4-1 lead with wins at No. 4 and 5 singles before Van Winter cut the lead in half with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over sophomore Brandon Wolf (Abingdon, Md./Patterson Mill) at No. 6 singles. Penn State Harrisburg went up 6-2 with triumphs over No. 1 and No. 2 singles.
Junior Wyatt Paulishak (Frederick, Md./Middletown) notched the last point for St. Mary's as Paulishak registered a 6-3, 6-3 win over first-year Mitch Ebersole (Donegal, Pa./Donegal) at No. 3 singles.
The Seahawks return to action on Saturday, March 28th when St. Mary's welcomes Southern Virginia University to the Somerset Tennis Complex for another conference match at 12:00 p.m.
