St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team snapped their two-match skid with a 9-0 shutout of Southern Virginia University in a Capital Athletic Conference match Saturday afternoon.
At No. 2 doubles, junior Wyatt Paulishak (Frederick, Md./Middletown) and first-year Connor McKissick (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) ended a three-match skid by outlasting sophomores Cort Cox (Farmington, N.M./Farmington) and Kjell Henness (Las Vega, Nev./Coronado) for an 8-6 win.
Junior Nick Ersoy (Prince Frederick, Md./Huntingtown) and first-year Kyle Van Winter (Scaggsville, Md./Good Counsel) lost only one game in picking up their second straight doubles win, handing first-year Tanner Heyland (Draper, Utah/Alta) and junior Parker Monson (Flagstaff, Ariz./Flagstaff) an 8-1 setback at No. 3 doubles. The duo is now 6-3 on the season.
Paulishak wrapped up his second consecutive singles win with a dominating 6-1, 6-0 victory over Henness at No. 3 singles, marking his fourth singles of the season. Van Winter also notched his second straight singles win, gaining an 8-5 triumph over Heyland at No. 6 singles. Van Winter leads the Seahawks with an 8-1 overall record.
The Seahawks return to action on Tuesday, March 31st when St. Mary's travels to Washington, D.C. to take on The Catholic University of America in a non-conference match at 3:30 p.m.
