St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team ended their 2014-15 campaign with a 9-0 loss to Salisbury University on Saturday afternoon.

Before the match began, St. Mary's recognized its lone senior – Ricky Schruefer (Columbia, Md./Hammond) – for his three years of dedication to the program.

The Seahawks finish off Head Coach Greg Shedd's second year at the helm with a 4-9 (2-5 CAC) record, just missing a spot in the upcoming 2015 Capital Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Championship Tournament.

St. Mary's was competitive in all its matches with Salisbury, who is ranked ninth in the Atlantic South region. Junior captain Mark Hardesty (Westminster, Md./Westminster) battled junior Eric Spangler (Clinton, Md./Grace Brethren Christian), who is 25th in the region, to a 7-5, 6-1 decision at No. 1 singles.

First-year Kyle Van Winter (Scaggsville, Md./Good Counsel) completed his rookie year as the team leader with eight singles wins as Van Winter posted an 8-4 record after opening up the season with six straight wins. He was 8-3 at No. 6 singles.

Van Winter and junior Nick Ersoy (Prince Frederick, Md./Huntingtown) teamed up for a team-best six doubles wins, posting a 6-6 record at No. 3 doubles.
