St. Mary's Men's Tennis Loses Third Straight

Newport News, Va. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision on the road to No. 39 Christopher Newport University in Capital Athletic Conference action Wednesday afternoon.

Christopher Newport (12-8, 5-1 CAC), who is ranked 10th in the Atlantic South region, did not lose a single game in sweeping all three doubles matches. The Captains then dropped only six games in six singles matches.

First-year Connor McKissick (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) took four games at No. 3 singles before falling 6-1, 6-3 to sophomore Arttu Fiva (Lappi, Finland/Ounasvaaran Urheilulukio).

St. Mary's (4-8, 2-4 CAC) will be back on the court this Saturday, April 11th as the Seahawks welcome Salisbury University, who is ranked ninth in the Atlantic South region, to the Somerset Tennis Complex for a conference match at 11:00 a.m. on Senior Day. Before the match begins on Saturday, the lone senior, Ricky Schruefer (Columbia, Md./Hammond), will be honored for his years with the program.
