Box Score Dover, Del. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team lost their second in a row to Wesley College in a Capital Athletic Conference battle Saturday afternoon. Wesley came out with a 63-58 victory in the regular-season finale.
Even with the loss, the Seahawks (8-17, 6-12 CAC) notched the sixth seed in the 2016 CAC Women's Basketball Championship Tournament thanks to the University of Mary Washington (21-4, 15-3 CAC) defeating Penn State Harrisburg (10-15, 6-12 CAC).
St. Mary's will now travel to Fredericksburg, Virginia on Tuesday, February 23 to take on No. 3 seed Mary Washington in the first round of the CAC Tournament. Tip-off is at 6:00 p.m.
The Seahawks (8-17, 6-12 CAC) were led by junior center Nina Haller's (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) double-double on a game-best 17 points and 13 rebounds while sophomore captain Kerri Kline (Hagerstown, Md./Saint James) added 12. First-year forward Kobe Chaney (Annapolis, Md./South River) led the efforts on the glass with 13 boards.

The Wolverines received most of their production from guards Monshea Newsome-Murray (Seaford, Del./Seaford), who tallied a game-best 17, and Alexis Stroud (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna), chipped in 15.
Moving to the final quarter, again the Seahawks came out swinging, going on a 6-0 run to tie the game at 44-44 at 5:57. It was short-lived with the Wolverines coming back to post a seven-point lead with 2:09 left, capping a 13-6 run with a three-pointer by junior guard Brittany Kerns (Bear, Del./William Penn). In the final minutes, the game came down to the foul line with the Wolverines going a perfect 6-of-6.
