- The Short Story: Senior center Nina Haller (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) registered her second double-double in as many games to lead the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team to a Capital Athletic Conference road win at Wesley College. Sunday afternoon's 55-52 victory snapped a four-game skid for the Seahawks.
How It Happened
- It was a low-scoring affair in the first quarter as neither team shot above 25-percent from the floor. St. Mary's gained the narrow 8-7 lead after one thanks to a Haller layup with six seconds left.
- Four three-pointers keyed the Seahawks' 18-5 run, including one at the buzzer by junior captain Kerri Kline (Hagerstown, Md./Saint James), to close out the second period and head into halftime with a 28-18 advantage.
- Kline led all players with nine first-half points while Haller notched eight points and eight rebounds. Sophomore forward Kobe Chaney (Edgewater, Md./South River) had the offense running smooth with seven of her career-high nine dimes in the first 20 minutes, including five in the second quarter.
- Wesley erased an 11-point deficit with a 17-7 run in the third as the Wolverines used 11 second-chance points to fuel their and head into the final quarter down only 38-37.
- The Wolverines continued their third-quarter momentum into the fourth, regaining their first lead since 7:14 of the second period with a four-point lead at 4:19 behind six straight points from junior guard Tiyanna Gibbs (Wilmington, Del./Concord).
- Kline sparked a 12-2 run for St. Mary's with her fifth triple of the afternoon, helping the team boast a 55-49 lead with 30 ticks on the clock.
- Wesley pulled within three with seven seconds left and called a full timeout with five to go. The ensuing play after the timeout yielded a failed three-point attempt and a Chaney defensive rebound with one second on the clock.
Inside the Box Score
- Haller registered her fourth double-double of the season with a career-best 17 rebounds and 16 points.
- Kline finished the afternoon with a game-best 16 points as well on the strength of a career-high five three-pointers while adding two assists.
- Chaney had a near double-double on nine boards and a career-best nine assists while chipping in four points and three blocks.
- Sophomore guard Katie Robey (Kensington, Md./Georgetown Visitation) also put in career numbers with career-highs of nine points and two three-pointers while contributing four caroms, four assists, and two steals.

- St. Mary's will seek an upset bid on Wednesday, January 11 when the Seahawks travel to Newport News, Virginia to take on No. 8 Christopher Newport University (13-0, 6-0 CAC) in the first half of a CAC doubleheader. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
