St. Mary's City, Md. – The No. 19 St. Mary's College of Maryland women's lacrosse team stumbled against fourth-ranked Gettysburg College Saturday afternoon. St. Mary's suffered its second straight loss as the Seahawks dropped a 16-1 decision to undefeated Gettysburg.

How It Happened

• Gettysburg notched the game's first 11 goals as the Bullets owned a 10-0 halftime lead and then scored the first goal of the second half. Junior attacker Maggie Welsh (Rye, N.Y./Holy Child) recorded a hat trick in the 11-0 run while seniors Emma Christie (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich) and Caroline Jaeger (Hampton, N.J./North Hunterdon) and sophomore midfielder Steph Colson (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley) each contributed two goals.
• Senior captain Meg Gesner (Severna Park, Md./Severn) put the Seahawks on the scoreboard at 19:34 of the second half with her team-leading 12th goal of the season. Sophomore attacker Ali Collie (Glen Arm, Md./Dulaney) picked up her seventh assist of the year on the play.
• Sophomore attacker Lauren Cole (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) netted two of Gettysburg's final five scores while first-year attacker Liza Barr (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) added a goal and an assist in the 5-0 run.

For St. Mary's (3-2)

• Senior midfielder Erika Kopf (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) collected career-bests of three ground balls and two caused turnovers to lead St. Mary's defensively.
• Sophomore goalkeeper Emma Brown (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) finished the afternoon with seven saves, including six in the first half.

For Gettysburg (3-0)

• Scorers (G-A): Jaeger (3-0); Welsh (3-0); Colson (2-0); Christie (2-0); Cole (2-0); Barr (1-1); Katie Willis (0-2); Katie Landry (1-0); Courtney Patterson (1-0); Emily Troy (1-0); Maggie McClain (0-1)
• Goalies: Shannon Keeler (4 saves, 0 GA, 30:00); Bailey Pilder (0 saves, 1 GA, 21:32); Casey Cole (1 save, 0 GA, 8:28)
• Gettysburg claimed the advantage in shots, 26-6, draw controls, 15-3, and ground balls, 10-9.
• The Bullets were also 7-of-11 on free position shots, including converting five straight in the first half.

Up Next for the Seahawks

• St. Mary's will look to snap its two-game skid on Wednesday, March 8 when the Seahawks travel to Ashland, Virginia to take on Randolph-Macon College (1-1) in non-conference action at 4:00 p.m.
