St. Mary's City, Md. – Attackers Lacey Brown (Monkton, Md./Hereford) and Abbey Harrison (Easton, Md./Easton) each tallied two goals in pacing the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's lacrosse team against Capital Athletic Conference rival, No. 16 University of Mary Washington, Wednesday afternoon. The Seahawks, however, came out on the short-end of a 10-6 loss to Mary Washington.

How It Happened

• Mary Washington struck first and quick, scoring three goals in the first four minutes of the game as junior attacker Holly Hudson (Lynchburg, Va./Virginia Episcopal) notched a goal and assist in the 3-0 run.
• The Seahawks responded with five unanswered goals in just over four minutes to stake a 5-3 edge at 18:30. Harrison scored both her goals in the 5-0 run while L. Brown chipped in a goal and assist.
• The two sides would head into the break tied at 5-5 as Hudson and senior attacker Kelsey Vincent (Salisbury, Md./Bennett) each found the back of the net.
• In the second half, the Eagles would outscore the hosts, 5-1, as St. Mary's committed 11 turnovers and won only two of seven draw controls over the final 30 minutes.

For St. Mary's (6-8, 2-3 CAC)

• L. Brown finished the day with a game-best three points on two goals and an assist while collecting a career-best two caused turnovers.
• Along with her two goals, Harrison added a team-high two draw controls.
• Defenders Mackenzie Rayburn (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll), Haley Sieglein (Baltimore, Md./Friends), and Dani MacDonald (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) all scooped up a game-best four ground balls. It was a career effort for both Sieglein and MacDonald.
• Sieglein (3) and Rayburn (2) contributed five caused turnovers.
• Sophomore goalkeeper Emma Brown (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) picked up six stops and two ground balls while shutting out the Eagles in their three free position attempts.
• St. Mary's won the ground ball battle, 18-15, but was only 1-of-5 on free position shots.

For No. 16 Mary Washington (10-4, 4-2 CAC)

• Scorers (G-A): Allison Davis (3-0); Kate Smucker (2-1); Hudson (2-1); Mackenzie Maguire (1-4); Vincent (1-0); Sabrina Elliott (1-0); Emily Mott (0-1)
• Goalie: Hanna Ashby (6 saves, 6 GA, 60:00)
• Mary Washington outshot the Seahawks, 17-15, and posted a 12-6 advantage in draws.

Up Next for the Seahawks

• St. Mary's will be at Seahawk Stadium this Saturday, April 8 at 1:00 p.m. as the Seahawks take on Marymount (Va.) University () in another CAC tilt. Before the game gets going, St. Mary's five seniors – Harrison, Rayburn, Sieglein, Meg Gesner (Severna Park, Md./Severn) and Erika Kopf (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) – will be honored for their contributions and dedication to the Seahawk women's lacrosse program.
