The Short Story: The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team dropped their third in a row Wednesday night. St. Mary's succumbed to a 56-41 setback at the hands of York College of Pennsylvania in Capital Athletic Conference action. Senior captain Olivia Nowlin (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) led all scorers in the game with 14 points.

How It Happened

York jumped out a 4-0 lead and then rolled to a 15-5 advantage at the end of the first quarter as the Seahawks were held to just 1-of-14 shooting in the first 10 minutes.
Neither side scored in the first three minutes of the second period before St. Mary's notched seven of the next 10 points to close the gap to 18-12 at 3:22. The Spartans tallied the final three points for a 21-12 halftime lead.
Sam Mocniak paced all scorers at the 15-minute intermission with 10 points. Neither team shot above 20% in the first half as the Seahawks went 4-for-24 (16.7%) from the field and York shot 6-for-32 (18.8%) with three triples.
YCP built a 13-point lead at the start of the third stanza behind seven points from Beth Wiseley. However, St. Mary's used a 14-9 push to close the gap to 41-33 through three quarters of play as Nowlin scored the team's final seven points.
The Seahawks would get no closer as York outscored the home team, 15-8, in the final period as the Spartans went 8-for-10 from the line.

Inside the Box Score

Nowlin finished 5-for-6 at the charity stripe in route to her game-best 14 points while adding six rebounds and two steals.
Senior captain Kerri Kline (Hagerstown, Md./Saint James) pulled down a career-high 11 boards and chipped in eight points while sophomore guard Janey Mathisen (Marshfield, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) collected career-bests of 10 points, four field goals (4-for-8), and three caroms off the bench.
Wiseley and Molly Day paced York with 11 points each while Mocniak finished with her 10 first-half points.
