St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team (3-5, 0-1 CAC) opened up Capital Athletic Conference action Friday afternoon with a 6-3 loss to York College of Pennsylvania (6-5, 1-0 CAC).

How It Happened
Doubles:
- York headed into singles play with a 3-0 lead after capturing all three doubles matches. St. Mary's closest match was at No. 1 doubles where sophomores Ethan Garren (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) and Jon Gorel (Jessup, Md./Hammond) battled in an 8-4 loss.
Singles:
- The Seahawks avoided the shutout with wins at No. 1, No.4, and No. 5 singles.
- Gorel picked up a straight-set win of 6-3, 6-4 over Ben Sentz at No. 1 singles. The win brought the sophomore's record to 6-2 (1-0 CAC).
- Senior captain Connor McKissick (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) had the most exciting victory of the day as McKissick needed a super tiebreaker to take down Lukas Olson, 6-2, 5-7, 10-7 at No. 4 singles.
- Senior captain Kyle Van Winter (Scaggsville, Md./Good Counsel) began his final home weekend as a Seahawk with a straight-set win of 6-4, 6-1 over Joel Hess.
