How It Happened
-
This game started out action-packed as both teams started scoring quickly and constantly. Kelly Emge of the Seahawks; assisted by Lucy Gussio, scored first just over a minute into the game. Gussio then scored unassisted 30 seconds later, and Keasley Allison of McDaniel; assisted by Emily Sheppard, scored 40 seconds after that.
-
Another rapid three goal barrage began just over six minutes into the game. This one began when Kate Bartholomew of the Seahawks scored a goal. McDaniel's Tori Arcilesi responded about a minute later with a goal, cutting the Seahawks' lead to 3-2.
-
This was the closest McDaniel would get to St. Mary's for the rest of the game. The Seahawks would take a stunningly swift 17 seconds to respond in the form of an Erin Piper goal, assisted by Bartholomew.
-
After that turbo-charged response, St. Mary's College would continue their expeditious scoring streak by putting in three more goals in the next five minutes. However, at that point, McDaniel's defense tightened up somewhat. However, St. Mary's College would score three more goals in the next 17 minutes as opposed to McDaniel's one, so they still went into halftime with a solid seven-point lead.
-
St. Mary's College came into the second half a bit sluggish, and slightly under seven minutes into it, McDaniel's Allison scored a free-position goal. 45 seconds later, Sarah Hunter scored a McDaniel goal, assisted by Sheppard, putting McDaniel within five.
-
St. Mary's College did catch fire during the last 25 minutes of the second half as they scored five goals in six minutes, putting them up by 10 and putting the game away for good. A final goal from Gussio with just under five minutes to go was the cherry on top for the Seahawks and capped off their third victory of the season.
