Seahawks Women’s Tennis Competes at Goucher Invitational

Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team wrapped up the fall portion of their 2021-22 schedule at the Goucher College Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
 
Doubles A
Junior Sydney Anderson (Ellicott City, Md./Wilde Lake) and first-year Amber Manspeaker (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) posted a 1-2 record. The duo started with a hard-fought 4-6, 2-6 loss to Stockton University's Sophia Pasquale and Kierstyn Fennimore before dropping a 1-6, 0-6 decision to Goucher's Ceri McCaffrey and Gigi Bellisario. Anderson and Manspeaker ended the weekend on a high note by grinding out a 7-5, 7-5 victory over Division II Frostburg State University's Shea Przywieczerski and Madison Toothman to finish third in Doubles A competition.
 
Doubles B
Junior Bella Sterner (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) and sophomore Georgia Kline (Easton, Md./Saint Michaels) fell 0-6, 2-6 to Gettysburg College's Kate Alianiello and Shoshi Dondes before losing 2-6, 3-6 to Frostburg State's Betsy Hixson and Sydney Goering. The duo then claimed a 6-1 first set victory against Immaculata University's Jenna Muttik and Audrey Keen before succumbing in the final two sets, 2-6, 9-11.
 
Singles A
First-year Diana Levit (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) dropped her first two matches, falling 2-6, 0-6 to Gettysburg's Andrea Brazyte and 0-6, 4-6 to Stockton's Lily Muir, the eventual consolation champion. Levit rebounded with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Ramapo College of New Jersey's Marina Kaifas.
 
Singles B
Junior Hannah Gorel (Jessup, Md./Hammond) sandwiched a straight-set victory between a pair of losses. Gorel began with a 2-6, 0-6 loss to Ramapo's Melanie Brentnall before handing Frostburg's Immanuella Odiong a 6-4, 6-4 setback. She then dropped a 3-6, 4-6 decision to Lebanon Valley College's Meredith Haas to finish in third place.
 
Singles C
Sophomore Ellie Walter (Easton, Md./Easton) opened up with a 2-6, 1-6 loss to Rutgers University-Camden's Tiffany Trivers before falling in three sets, 0-6, 6-4, 7-10 to Immaculata's Jessica Dougherty. Walter finished out the weekend with a 1-6, 2-6 loss to Ramapo's Melanie Colon-Leon.
 
Singles D
First-year Giselle Harris () played a gritty three-setter with Frostburg's Jen Dieterle but came up short, 0-6, 6-2, 6-10. Harris followed that up with a tough 4-6, 4-6 loss to Harford Community College's Lily Holtschneider. In her final match, she dropped an 8-2 pro set to Rutgers-Camden's Laurel DiStefano.
