LATHAM, N.Y. – Lily Ganjbaksh (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) was named the United East Conference Player of the Week for women's tennis for the second straight week as announced by the league office Tuesday morning (Sept. 22). This is Ganjbaksh's fifth career league player of the week award.
The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team is coming off a tough 4-3 loss at The Catholic University of America (Sept. 19).
Ganjbaksh started the match by teaming up with
Katherine Yao for a 6-4 victory over
Ella Knox and
Meaghan Laniewski at No. 1 doubles. She then picked up a 6-1, 7-6 (3) triumph over
Annie Nemoy at No. 1 singles to give St. Mary's College a 3-1 lead.
The Seahawks will return to action Friday-Monday, Sept. 25-28, when SMCM competes at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regionals hosted by the University of Mary Washington.
