LATHAM, N.Y. – Sophomore
Lily Ganjbaksh (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) was named the United East Conference Player of the Week for women's tennis as announced by the league office Tuesday morning (Sept. 15). This is Ganjbaksh's fourth career league player of the week award.
The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team served up the start of the 2026-27 campaign at the Washington College Invite Sept. 12-13.
Ganjbaksh posted a 2-1 record in singles action, opening with a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Washington College's
Antonia Kousiou in Round 1. She then rebounded with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Albright College's
Nadia Margaritov in Round 2 before outlasting Division II Millersville University's
Lauren Hayes, 5-7, 6-3, 10-5 in Round 3. Ganjbaksh also tallied a 2-2 record in doubles play.
St. Mary's College will return to action Saturday, Sept. 19, when the Seahawks travel to Washington, D.C., to face The Catholic University of America (0-1) in a non-conference match at 11 am.
