Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team battled in their first dual match of the 2026-27 campaign Saturday (Sept. 19). St. Mary's College (0-1) dropped a heartbreaking 4-3 decision at The Catholic University of America (1-2).
 
Catholic began the match with a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles before junior Lily Spedden (Cambridge, Md./Cambridge South Dorchester) and sophomore Addyson Harden (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) responded with a 6-2 triumph at No. 3 doubles.
 
Sophomore Lily Ganjbaksh (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) and Katherine Yao clinched the doubles point for the Seahawks with a hard-fought 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles.
 
The Cardinals evened the match with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles before SMCM captured back-to-back singles points. Junior Sarah Levit (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) picked up a 6-4, 6-4 triumph at No. 3 singles followed by Ganjbaksh notching a gritty 6-1, 7-6 (3) victory at No. 1 singles.
 
Catholic closed out the match with wins at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 singles. Junior captain Stella Manns (White Hall, Md./North Harford) took No. 6 singles down to the wire as Manns forced a super tiebreaker but in the end fell 5-7, 6-4, 5-10.
