St. Mary's Men's Indoor Track & Field Debuts at CNU Holiday Open

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's indoor track & field team made their season debut at the Christopher Newport University Holiday Open on Saturday (Dec. 3).

How It Happened:

  • Ethan Carpenter had a stellar performance, placing first in the weight throw at 15.33 meters. This throw broke both his personal record and the school record. He further finished in the Top 10 for shot put, coming in third with 13.62 meters.

  • Other school records were broken within the men's team as Amaun Hill broke the long jump record at 5.70 meters. Hill further earned eighth place in the high jump at 1.67 meters. Zack Kralec set the school record in the pole vault with a second-place finish at 3.67 meters. The 5,000 meter school record was broken by Michael Wade at 16:19.20, which earned him a second-place spot.

  • The Seahawks had two top-10 finishes in the mile as Quentin Pastore finished fifth and Nate Norris was close behind at seventh. Further top-10 finishes were the two 4x400m relay teams that finished fifth and sixth, respectively.

  • Personal records were broken by Marion Lajara in both the weight throw and shot put.

In regards to the opening meet, Head Coach Reava Potter noted, "We are in a better place than we were at this time last year, so I'm excited to see where we go."

Up Next: The Seahawks will be back in action on January 14 when they attend the River Hawk Invite at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.
