Hilton Head Island, SC-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team took on the Principia College Panthers this afternoon (Mar. 17) in their second match of the PTR Spring Tennis Fest. The Seahawks came up short against the Panthers, falling 8-1.

Doubles

•  Hallie Hershey and Hannah Gorel dropped their match competing in the No.1 spot this afternoon, falling, 8-3. Sydney Anderson and Amber Manspeaker suffered the same fate in the No. 2 spot, coming up short, 8-5.

• The most dramatic match of the contest occurred in the No. 3 spot, as Giselle Harris and Ellie Walter were able to secure the lone win on the day for the Seahawks, picking up a tie breaker victory.

Singles

• Gorel competed in the No. 1 spot and dropped both sets by a score of 6-1. Hershey represented the Seahawks in the No. 2 spot and couldn't flip the fortune for St. Mary's, as she dropped both sets in a nail biter with scores of 6-4 and 7-6. Manspeaker couldn't give the Seahawks another tally in the win column and fell with scores of 6-0 and 6-2.

• Anderson dropped her match in the No. 4 spot with scores of 6-0 and 6-3. Harris pushed her opponent to the brink in the No. 5 spot, but fell just short in the tie breaker, 9-11.

• Rounding things off for the Seahawks in the No. 6 spot, Walter was defeated in two sets by scores of 6-2 and 6-3.
