Carpenter Competes at All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference Indoor Championships

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Junior Ethan Carpenter (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) represented St. Mary's College of Maryland men's indoor track & field team at the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Indoor Championships Saturday afternoon. Carpenter qualified for the AARTFC championships in the weight throw earlier this season with a school record-setting throw of 15.20m at the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason University (Jan. 29).

How It Happened

  • The 6-3 thrower found himself in 21st place after his first throw of 12.61m. Carpenter then fouled on his second and third attempts to drop to his final placement of 27th with his throw of 12.61m.

  • Cody Breidenbach of Carnegie Mellon University took home first place with a throw of 18.93m, ranking Breidenbach sixth in Division III. Ithaca College's Luke Tobia secured second place with a throw of 18.76m (7th in Division III) while Darren Wan of Stockton University clinched third with 17.96m (18th in Division III).

Up Next

Today's competition officially closes the St. Mary's College men's indoor track and field season. The Seahawks now turn their sights to the outdoor season with their first competition taking place on March 18-19 at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. The meet will be held at the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in the Myrtle Beach, S.C.
