NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The St. Mary's College of Maryland Men's Outdoor Track and Field Team traveled to the Towne Bank Stadium to compete in the Blue & Silver Challenge. They were among eight other teams to compete in the two-day track meet including the hosting Captains of Christopher Newport University.

How It Happened:

The Seahawks notched three top-ten places in the Men's 400 Meter Dash. Alex Gouin placed seventh (55.54), Eli Henson placed eighth (55.79), and Zane Obi placed ninth (56.37).

Michael Wade earned second place in the Men's 5000 Meter Run with a time of 16:23.76. This performance breaks the current school record.Â

Alex Gouin earned tenth place overall in the Men's 200 Meter Dash with a time of 24.57.Â

The Men's 800 Meter Run proved to be just as successful. Quentin Pastore placed fourth (2:08.23), Nate Norris placed seventh (2:14.36), Kelly Byrne placed eighth (2:16.86), and Zane Obi placed ninth (2:19.18).

Quentin Pastore had success in the Men's 1500 Meter run, placing ninth overall with a time of 4:32.92.

Amaun Hill placed fifth overall in the Men's High Jump at 1.60 meters. Hill was successful in the Men's Long Jump as well, placing sixth overall at 5.72 meters. This currently ties his current school record set at the previous meet.

Zack Kralec placed seventh overall in the Men's Javelin Throw at 33.29 meters. Marion Lajara was close behind in ninth at 26.85 meters.

Kralec also participated in the Men's Pole Vault where he earned second place with a height of 4.15 meters. This breaks his previously held school record.Â

Marion Lajara earned ninth place in the Men's Discus Throw at 30.65 meters.

The quartet of Alex Gouin, Zane Obi, Jaedon Aso, and Amaun Hill notched fourth place in the Men's 4x100 Relay with a time of 47.34.

The Seahawks will be back in action when they host the Seahawk Invitational on Saturday, April 1st, 2023. This is the Seahawk's only home meet for the outdoor season.
