NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The St. Mary's College of Maryland Women's Outdoor Track and Field Team traveled to the Towne Bank Stadium to compete in the Blue & Silver Challenge. They were among eight other teams to compete in the two-day track meet including the hosting Captains of Christopher Newport University.

How It Happened:

• First-year Savannah Owens notched second place overall in the Women's 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:07.94. Close behind in third was Alana Thompson (1:08.12), Dina Jones in sixth (1:12.77), Pamela Angel-Aguilar in seventh (1:13.38), and Chay'la Rivers in eighth (1:13.69). 

• Alana Thompson earned third place overall in the Women's 200 Meter Dash with a time of 29.85. Behind her was Addie Ostendorf-Snell in seventh at 30.55.

• Dina Jones and Chay'la Rivers both landed top five places in the Women's 400 Meter Hurdles. Jones placed third at 1:25.39 and Rivers placed fourth at 1:33.79.

• Brittney Douglas earned first place and smashed the school record in the Women's 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:26.72.

• Brittney Douglas and Lauren Sapp both earned top-ten spots in the Women's 1500 Meter Run. Douglas earned fifth place with a time of 5:20.58 and Sapp sixth place with a time of 5:24.49.

• Ariana Lecouras earned second place in the Women's 5000 Meter Run with a time of 22:17.49. 

• Four Seahawks earned top-ten spots in the Women's Hammer Throw. Morgan Marzec came in fourth (24.40m), Fladaina Bruno fifth place (23.40m), Nayev Pumphrey sixth place (22.70m), and Olivia Magaletta in seventh place (22.30m).

• Alana Thompson set a new school record in the Women's Javelin Throw with a distance of 15.99 meters. 

• The quartet of Addie Ostendorf-Snell, Chay'la Rivers, Fladaina Bruno, and Alana Thompson earned second place overall in the Women's 4x100 relay with a time of 55.36. 

• Chay'la Rivers earned second place overall in the Women's Long Jump at 4.34 meters. Alana Thompson was behind her in third at 4.22 meters.

The Seahawks will be back in action when they host the Seahawk Invitational on Saturday, April 1st, 2023. This is the Seahawk's only home meet for the outdoor season.
