ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Sophomore
Quinnten Hatfield (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) earned the inaugural United East Conference Elite 14 Award in men's lacrosse as announced by the conference office Saturday afternoon (May 6) before the start of the championship game in the 2023 United East Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament.
The newly established Elite 14 Award honors the student-athlete with the highest grade point average from a team competing in the United East Conference Championship Tournament.
Hatfield owns a 4.00 cumulative GPA as a physics and computer science double major with a minor in mathematics. A 2022 United East Scholar-Athlete, he is a teaching assistant and served as the SGA Class of 2025 president as a first year.
The 6-4 defensive midfielder landed on the All-United East First Team at short-stick defensive midfielder. He has prevented smooth transitions for the opposing teams, collecting a team second-best 22 caused turnovers and scooping up 39 ground balls. Hatfield has been an asset offensively as well with six goals and five assists.
St. Mary's College (15-5) continues its dance in the 2023 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament this weekend on the campus of Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. Coming off the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament win, the Seahawks will take on No. 5 Middlebury College in second round action Saturday, May 13, at 12 p.m.
