Tindal Highlights SMCM Men’s Outdoor Track & Field All-United East Teams

LATHAM, N.Y. – First-year Ty Tindal (Philadelphia, Pa./Martin Saints Classical) grabbed his second United East Conference Track & Field Rookie of the Year award at the inaugural United East Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday and Sunday (May 4-5). Additionally, six Seahawks earned a spot on the All-United East teams.
 
Tindal brought home the Rookie of the Year award for the second time as he garnered the same honor during the indoor season. He medaled in four events, including winning the long jump, as St. Mary's College finished fourth in the nine-team field with 74 points.
 
Tindal claimed the top spot in the long jump with a personal and school record of 6.52m for a First Team All-United East award. He also came in second in both the 100m dash (10.93) and the 200m dash (22.09) for Second Team honors. Tindal added a Third Team All-United East honor as well by running the second leg of the third-place 4x100m relay.
 
Sophomore captain Zack Kralec (Monkton, Md./Hereford) garnered a silver medal in the javelin throw with a personal and school record of 48.14m for Second Team All-United East honors.
 
Sophomore captain Kelly Byrne (Rockville, Md./Rockville) notched a Second Team All-United East award with a second-place finish in the 10,000m run with a personal-best and school record time of 35:42.04.
 
Rounding out SMCM's all-league selections were sophomore Jaedon Aso (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills), first-year Mason Layne (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key), and junior Zane Obi (Germantown, Md./Quince Orchard). The trio all earned Third Team All-United East honors as members of the third-place 4x100m relay.
