Seahawks Men’s Lacrosse Hosting Farmingdale State in NCAA Tournament First Round

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team made the 38-team field for the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament as announced by the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Committee Sunday night (May 5).
 
This is St. Mary's College's third overall selection, and second straight, to the NCAA Tournament. And for the second consecutive year, the Seahawks will serve as a host site for first-round action and will welcome Farmingdale State College to the Jamie L. Roberts Stadium this Wednesday, May 8 at 4 pm.

Tickets will be $6 for adults; $3 for senior citizens, children 6-18, and students; Free for children under 5. You can purchase tickets at the stadium on Wednesday. The stadium gates will open at 2:30 pm. There will be no re-entry, no pets, and no coolers allowed in the JLR.
 
SMCM and Farmingdale State were two of 27 teams granted automatic qualification (AQ) to the tournament as the champion of their respective conference. St. Mary's College (13-6) claimed the AQ for the United East Conference by virtue of their 23-4 win over No. 2 seed Penn College on May 4 while Farmingdale State (10-6) took down No. 1 seed Maritime College, 12-11, as the third seed on May 3 for the Skyline Conference title.
 
Last season, the Seahawks notched their first-ever NCAA Tournament win, taking down U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, 10-5, in first-round action before dropping a 10-9 heartbreaker to Middlebury College in the second round. SMCM owns a 1-2 record in postseason action.
 
Farmingdale State is making their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
 
Wednesday's winner will then battle No. 2 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in the second round on Saturday, May 11, at 12 p.m. on RPI's campus in Troy, N.Y. Saturday's victor will continue on to face the winner of the Grove City College and Bowdoin College matchup on Sunday, May 12, in a third-round game.
 
The quarterfinals and semifinals will take place on Saturday, May 18, and Sunday, May 19, on the campus of one of the competing teams.
 
This year's finalists will advance to Philadelphia, Pa., for the championship game at Lincoln Financial Field, which will be played at 1 pm on Sunday, May 26, and can be watched live on NCAA.com.
