Box Score Fredericksburg, Va. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team competed in the annual ITA Southeast Regionals at the University of Mary Washington campus. The Seahawks faced off on both Friday and Saturday in both doubles and singles.
How It Happened:
Doubles
- Max Esztergomi (Bethesda, Md./ Walt Whitman) and Jacob Nelson (Olney, Md./ Sherwood) competed against Lorenzo Neri and Benjamin Perks of Catholic University of America. Esztergomi and Nelson fell 5-7 in their B2 Doubles match.
- Andrew Hand (Huntingtown, Md./ Huntingtown) and Michael Shively (Potomac, Md./ Walt Whitman) took on Mark Gordon and Coree Nicely of Bridgewater College in their B2 Doubles match. Hand and Shively lost 2-6.
- Following the loss, Esztergomi and Nelson faced off against Logan Garner and Cameron Cooley of Bridgewater College. Esztergomi and Nelson dominated 6-0 in their consolation match.
- Hand and Shively lost their consolation 4-6 after an early lead to Ethan Luu and Michael Schuetz of Lebanon Valley College in the B2 draw.
Singles
- Max Esztergomi (Bethesda, Md./ Walt Whitman) battled Asher Willenborg from Salisbury University in the Champions Draw. Esztergomi fell 0-8 after a format change due to weather.
- Jacob Nelson (Olney, Md./ Sherwood) took on Nikhil Lavu of Haverford College. Nelson fell 0-8 in the B1 Draw.
- Esztergomi fell 6-8 in the consolation match against Gunek Singh from Marymount University after a strong comeback attempt.
- Nelson lost 1-8 in the consolation match against Hayes Gilbert of Swarthmore College in the B1 matchup.
