ARLINGTON, Va. – St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swimming returned to Atlantic East Conference competition Saturday afternoon (Jan. 18). St. Mary's College (9-6, 4-1 AEC) dropped its first league dual meet of the season, succumbing to a 137-122 setback at Marymount (Va.) University (5-2, 5-0 AEC).
The Seahawks won five of the 14 events with sophomore
Emerson Young (Bel Air, Md./Harford Technical) leading the way with three individual victories while sophomore
Kelsie Miller (Potomac, Md./Churchill) and first-year
Lauren Goulet (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) each notched one.
Young captured the 50-backstroke in 28.76 before touching the wall first in the 50-freestyle in 25.32. She also took top honors in the 100-freestyle in 56.18.
Goulet won an exciting 1000-freestyle race, edging Marymount's
Sydney Runk '27, the defending Atlantic East 1650-freestyle champion, by 1.15 seconds as she clocked a 11:50.23 for the triumph.
Miller picked up her individual win in the 50-butterfly in 27.74. She also earned a pair of second-place finishes in the 200-butterfly (2:21.83) and the 100-freestyle (56.44).

Venus Kai Judge (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard), Miller and first-year
Addison Willey (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) posted a second-place finish in the 200-medley relay in 1:57.86.
Judge collected two second-place finishes in the 200-freestyle in 2:07.56 and the 500-freestyle in 5:45.47 while placing third in the 50-breaststroke in 36.01.

Ella Malzahn (Durham, N.C./Jordan), Goulet, and junior
Kate Pass (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) took second in 1:52.68.
Sophomore
Kaitlyn Soldon (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) earned a third-place finish in the 200-backstroke in 2:33.95 while first-year
Ella Malzahn (Durham, N.C./Jordan) put up a third-place finish in the 200-breaststroke in 2:55.83.
In the 200-individual medley, first-year
Jesse Slingluff (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) posted a third-place finish in 2:34.64.
